National Transport Manager

We are pleased to introduce a new role within our Cargo Operations team — the Transport Manager — reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, Cargo Operations.

 

This position will be responsible for coordinating the movement of freight across airports, liaising with key stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient flow of cargo throughout the dnata supply chain.

 

The Transport Manager will play a critical role in optimising transport operations, maintaining service standards, and supporting the overall commercial and operational objectives of the business.

 

 

Operational Planning:

  • Coordinate and communicate supplier rostering requirements to ensure service KPIs and contractual obligations are consistently achieved.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, support, and guidance to drivers, addressing concerns promptly while fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Promote driver welfare and ensure strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team to drive positive workplace culture, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives across dnata branches.
  • Conduct regular site and terminal visits to oversee operational performance, provide on-the-ground leadership, and act as a key liaison with frontline customer personnel to ensure professional service delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate transport operations, including route optimisation, load planning, and resource allocation to maximise efficiency and cost control.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new and existing service offerings, including direct deliveries, ULD management, WSI integration, and RFS operations.
  • Monitor and manage daily operational activities, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain service continuity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and alignment with customer expectations.

Performance and Profitability:

  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational efficiency, service performance, and overall profitability.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and process improvements to drive sustainable operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with approved budgets and financial targets, proactively managing variances and reporting on performance outcomes.
  • Support pricing strategy development and maintain effective expense control measures, including supplier performance management and commercial oversight.
  • Proactively anticipate future operational and market demands through ongoing engagement with airlines, CTOs, and awareness of industry and product developments.
  • Provide regular feedback and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the strategic execution of sales and marketing initiatives.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards across Australia.
  • Work with the Safety & Compliance team to contribute to and implement operating procedures, conduct safety audits, worker observations, attend training and meetings;
  • Promoting a culture of safety within the team and suppliers
  • Conducting regular safety inspections and audits on suppliers
  • Ensure full compliance with security protocols including AACA accreditation and security sealing for transport.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensuring timely and reliable Collection and delivery of goods.
  • Addressing customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
  • Attend customer meetings and continual customer engagement to deliver end to end experience including monthly and QBR reporting.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Supervising and motivating a team of employees and supplies
  • Providing training and development opportunities to team members.
  • Delegating tasks and responsibilities effectively.
