Safety Systems Manager

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

As the Safety Systems Manager, your primary goal is to establish and maintain a simple yet robust safety system, emphasizing safety promotions, leadership and continuous improvement. You will lead the development and management of dnata AU's Safety Management System (SMS) aligning it with global frameworks and protocols.

 

Your role will involve analysing safety performance trends, overseeing a governance framework for safety, managing safety programs and initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Additionally you will play a key role in risk management initiatives, incident investigations and facilitating continuous improvement of management systems.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage dnata AU's Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring alignment with global frameworks and protocols.
  • Conduct safety performance and trend analysis, providing regular reports to management.
  • Establish and oversee a robust governance framework for safety, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and develop safety programs, promotions and initiatives aimed at fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Participate in and conduct audits and investigations as required.
  • Support the delivery of Risk Management initiatives across the organisation.
  • Stay informed about industry, regulatory and dnata global system changes, assessing their implications on dnata in Australia.
  • Manage access to and ensure the quality of information contained in the dnata Hub incident reporting system.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of safety-related data for trend analysis, improvement initiatives and emerging risks.
  • Lead and participate in significant investigations as required.
  • Facilitate regular reviews and continuous improvement of management systems (Safety & Environment).

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety Management with a focus on Safety System Development and oversight.
  • In-depth knowledge of Safety Regulations, Standards and Industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation.

 

 DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience in Safety within Aviation, Warehousing, Transportation or Logistics environments.
